Nushiravan Maharramov was born on September 11, 1960 in Imishli Region of Azerbaijan.
In 1982 he entered to the Department of History of Baku State University. In 1985 he was transferred to the Department of History of Moscow State University to continue his education. In 1988 he entered to postgraduate course of the Department of History of Moscow State University. In 1992 he was granted academic degree Candidate of Historical Sciences just after he defended the Thesis on “Interparty struggle on national issue in Azerbaijan (1917-1918 years)”.
From 1992 he worked at the Department of History of Ancient World and the Middle Ages of Baku State University as a lecturer and a senior lecturer.
Since 1996 he worked as a senior reviewer and as a head of division in Social-political Department of Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In 2003 according to the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Nushiravan Maharramov was appointed Member of National Television and Radio Council and then he was elected the Chairperson.
On January 23, 2009 he was re-appointed Member of National Television and Radio Council by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and then re-elected the Chairperson.
On January 26, 2015 he was once again re-appointed as a Member of National Television and Radio Council. At the Meeting of NTRC which held on January 28, 2015 he was elected Chairperson.
On 6 April 2020 he left position of the Chair of the Council. Now he is a Member of National Television and Radio Council.
According to the Orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for his activities in development of Azerbaijan television Nushiravan Maharramov was awarded with “Taraggi” (“Development”) Medal in 2008. In 2015 he was awarded with the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” of the 3rd degree for activities in development of mass media in Azerbaijan. In 2019 he was also awarded with the Anniversary Medals “The Century of the Azerbaijan People’s Republic (1918-2018)” and “The Century of Diplomatic Services of the Republic of Azerbaijan (1919-2019)”
He is married, has 3 children.
